Get to know the Spaljisten production - automated corrugated pallet line

Since 2018, we have been using a corrugated pallet line to pack furniture fronts that we produce on lightweight pallets of corrugated cardboard. As is standard in the Spaljisten production in Åseda, Sweden, most processes are highly automated. To begin with, how the products reach the packing line - transported by our automatic forklift trucks.

We load the packaged fronts on a heavy-duty cardboard plate which then becomes the loading surface. On the packing line, the flat plate gets feet that allow pallets to be transported by trucks and stacked. Depending on the products, some surface plates have an extra 10 cm on the sides that the machine folds into a tray that protects the products from truck damage. Spaljisten's corrugated pallet line uses honeycomb feet, which refers to the construction of the feet that provides increased load-bearing capacity. Finished pallets are plastic-wrapped and fastened with bands. Only the final step of the process where finished pallets are transferred to the warehouse is performed by our truck drivers.

We aim to be a furniture front manufacturer with the next generation in mind. The fact that we ship out pallets made of paper, not wood, results in lighter shipping weight and reduced transport costs compared to the heavier EUR-pallets. Corrugated pallets are also easy to recycle and eliminate secondary costs related to handling returns, making them a sustainable choice.
