We care - Spaljistens Sustainability report 2020

Spaljisten now presents the sustainability report with the combined financial report for 2020. The Sustainability Report explains our development over the past year and clarifies how we work actively with sustainability in our operations.

During 2020, Spaljisten has significantly increased the quantity of recycled materials. At the same time as we have worked hard to reduce our climate footprint in several other areas as well. And the result was to be followed and here it is all brand new, our Sustainability Report for 2020. An increased focus on sustainability in the past years has generated results in many places within Spaljisten. Here are some of the improvements we are proud of.

Highlights:

  • From 2018 to 2020, Spaljisten has reduced the internal carbon dioxide emissions by 1380 tonnes.
  • A highly organized work with waste and refuse, we have made a climate saving of 154 tonnes.
  • Our systematic job with work environment, training and wellness policy have saved us more than 50%of workplace injuries compared with the previous year.
  • In 2020, we had all chemicals assessed for risk and 50 phased out for a safe and good working environment.

Our goal is to become even better.

In the short term, Spaljisten's sustainability work is about protecting nature's resources, work actively with our sustainability strategy and including and engaging the entire business. We take our responsibility very seriously and think about sustainability in all parts: social, economic and environmental.

- We have sustainability in our DNA, and we think of sustainability in everything we do. It reduces our climate footprint, provides profitability and satisfied employees and customers, says Ermal Devce Sustainability Manager at Spaljisten AB

During 2020, Spaljisten continued to have a strong focus on implementing new ways of working and identifying opportunities for improvements, as well as intensifying our ongoing improvements. All parts of the business and production in Åseda are involved and together everyone works to become a world-class furniture front manufacturer with the next generation in mind.

Care for the next generation

The work of reducing our environmental footprint is a top priority on the agenda of Spaljisten. One challenge is that we do not control the entire supply chain ourselves. Therefore, we have chosen to work with scopes 1 and 2. This measurement shows that our carbon dioxide emissions have decreased by more than 90 percent compared to 2017. The biggest contribution to this development is that since 2019 we use only locally produced and renewable energy for our factory in Åseda. In addition to energy changes that have fairly immediate effects, we are constantly increasing the proportion of recycled materials in our products. Today we can offer a kitchen door that is kinder to nature, as much as 90% of the foil is made from recycled plastic.

In addition to climate issues, we also have the heart for our employees. We create the conditions for a safe workplace, with a high level of well-being by engaging staff in development work but also with efforts to create a safe and good corporate culture.
