We care - Spaljisten's Sustainability Report 2022

Looking back on the strides made in 2021, Spaljisten has remained dedicated to its mission of sustainability also in 2022.

Presenting Spaljisten's Sustainability Report for 2022, the results of the focus on sustainability over the recent years are evident throughout the company. Here are some of the highlights from 2022 that represent our ongoing commitment:

  • 2022 marked the expansion of our collaboration with Solör Bioenergi that utilizes biomass fuel to produce district heating and hot water for properties in the Åseda area, including our industrial facilities, closing the loop.
  • Efficient management of waste facilitated the recycling of 158 tonnes of materials in the year 2022.
  • In addition to recycling the waste materials, we reuse emptied PUR adhesive containers in collaboration with Stena Recycling.
  • From 2020 to 2022, Spaljisten has reduced its internal consumption of diesel by around 1650 liters per year.
  • A significant step towards workplace safety has been a substantial focus on increasing reporting in the WIA system to prevent further accidents. We have also ensured training to all of our new safety representatives, fostering a culture of safe and healthy work environment for all.

Paving the path ahead

The immediate future of Spaljisten's sustainability work is about active engagement with our sustainability strategy, minimising our impact through lowering resource consumption, and fostering a safe and inclusive work environment throughout the entire organisation. The market's growing interest in our vision positions us favorably for future contributions. Our aspiration for growth depends on nurturing our talented workforce and optimizing production in a secure and inclusive work environment powered by 100% renewable energy.

In 2022, we invested in our leaders who had the opportunity to participate in a leadership development program led by licensed consultants within the leadership development program of Swedish Defense University. This has empowered our leaders with tools, insights, and leadership theories. We will continue to develop the work internally, involving every part of our operations.

Care for the next generation

Sustainability remains at the core of our operations across social, economic and environmental spheres. We have increased the proportion of foil in our products that contain recycled plastic and retained a significant proportion of recycled wood in particle board used in our products.

Our carbon dioxide emissions have diminished by over 90% since 2017. A pivotal contribution to this milestone is our exclusive reliance on locally sourced and renewable energy since 2019 at the Åseda facility.

Cultivating a secure, thriving workplace is our objective, achieved through active employee involvement in development initiatives and the nurturing of a positive workplace culture. In 2022 we have developed our approach of conducting employee surveys, as well as initiated further development of Spaljisten’s core values including the whole company.
